Sorry for Job Searching

For many months now I have been searching for a part-time job as I am struggling with money whilst studying for my full-time degree. There are a number of annoyances that have massively knocked my confidence and a number of companies that really push it as far as it comes to equality and providing a fair system for people looking for employment. I don’t give a shit anymore, I’m actually going to name the companies that have annoyed me here as I’m just so angry.

Firstly, when I hand a CV out, I’d like the person I hand it to, to be honest. The amount of times I’ve handed CV’s out many a time to get ‘Oh, there’ll be a few things coming up, we will definitely get in touch’ only to never hear from them again. If you’re not going to bother if you don’t like my CV just say ‘If we find something suitable/ if we like your cv we will contact you’. Bars and Restaurants are very guilty of this… Nando’s being the main offender.

This point, is pretty much a profound accusation, but I’ve experienced it enough times now to know it’s truth, It’s also a risky thing to say in this country and brands you as a racist, but the opposite is true. I’m a victim to racial discrimination. I believe that equality is the most important thing we should have in society and in your life… however… EQUAL MEANS EVERYONE IS EQUAL.

McDonalds and KFC are the most racist companies I have ever applied at. 5 KFC stores I have applied at on several occasions, not once have I progressed to an interview, only to find in the store, not one British worker. I wouldn’t mind, but I have experienced the worst customer service experiences in both these stores, with large queues and staff more fussed about making happy meal boxes. If these people were better for the job I would applaud this, however, I know I would provide better qualities and skills to the job from the things I have seen, and It says enough on it’s own when not one British worker works in any of the stores I applied for.

My final gripe is companies who seem to NEVER have vacancies, despite having careers websites. HMV, is the number one target of my anger here. Since I was 16 I’ve checked that page and always searched the ‘Yorkshire’ option as it’s much easier. I am now 20. Over the period of 4 years, not one vacancy has ever resulted on that page. If you’re going to have a careers site. The number one thing you should ensure is that careers are listed on that website. This makes me feel like HMV is a very exclusive company when it comes to employment, and they only pick up friends or family, which is very unfair, especially in today’s climate when people are clambering for jobs.

Anyway I’m tired, I’m just fed up of this search now. Desperate for a part-time job. I have plenty of experience and I’ve got decent qualifications. I hate blowing my own trumpet, I really do, but it’s such a pity that our country has such poor effort in getting people employed. I’m not surprised youth has a bad reputation these days, the older generation has hardly left us with anything to be optimistic or confident about. Yet when we try to say something we also get accused of being anarchists or ignored.

Maybe it’s about time the politicians started realising that their jobs revolve around the people, not themselves.

Status Teasers

that’s the name I shall give them…

Those people who post statuses like ‘OMG, I trusted you, why did you do this to me?’ and when asked about it tell you to text them or go to private message.

Firstly, IF YOU POST SOMETHING LIKE THAT, EXPECT PEOPLE TO WANT THE ANSWERS.

Secondly, why do people find it so hard to say this to the person involved instead of the rest of facebook first?

Thirdly, don’t put your washing out to dry if you’re not prepared to discuss the colours of your clothes, seriously. Posting statuses like that gets reactions, and it’s ALWAYS from people you weren’t aiming for, so be prepared to answer questions properly.

People who use facebook or other social networking platforms to make decisions…

Yes, them people who post statuses asking people to decide for them…

Shall I have a nap?

Shall I name my new cat fluffy?

Are people really incapable of choosing for themselves? You’re just asking for jokes when you do that stuff. I always vote for the worst option… just because the person was stupid enough to let everyone on their friends list have a decision.

If you feel like you need a nap, chances are you should have a nap… not leave facebook half an hour to decide for you.

End of Rant.

I’m all for typography and using words as art, but a picture of you holding a sign with a sentence an emo wouldn’t look strange with IS NOT ART. Firstly it isn’t expressive or original, you’re directly presenting your image and I get about a thousand of them in my face when I log into deviantart. Art has more tact than that.

Secondly; if you are using words as an expressive art, the arrangement is much more important than the sentence or the way you look in the picture.

Thirdly; don’t try to make your message sound deep when in reality it isn’t that deep. Yeah, you might be a spoilt brat who is unappreciative of the things life has given you, life goes on, why not express a message you truly believe in, rather than expressing your own anxieties?
